I'm going backwards in time to share one of my favorite trips - EVER! It started w/ a free ticket on United to Europe. My friend, Jen, and I both had enough miles for a free trip. We pulled out the handy-dandy map and selected Croatia. Yep, Croatia as in formerly Yugoslavia. I selected to not tell my parents or brother where I was headed. Imagine David's surprise when emails started to come in from Croatia and better-yet, Bosnia! He called our dad to inform him where I was... Funny stuff! Jen and I met up in Germany, she just came running down the terminal as the flight to Croatia almost closed, I was so worried she wasn't going to make it! We first flew to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia then we took a flight to Dubrovnik. I had to take a lot of Dramamine on that flight - turns out it is the hardest airport to fly into... In fact, we had to abort the landing and fly to another airport in Croatia then when weather cleared we flew back to Dubrovnik. From there the two of us found various forms of transportation to travel north along the coastline. Private cars, buses, walking, etc. Oh my gosh, it was soooo beautiful. I loved the wine, food, water - swimming in the Adriatic-fun! The people were so cool. I fully enjoyed the good looking men, anyone that knows me, knows I like European men- HA! Everyone was so kind.
Here's a pavilion in Zagreb:

A view of the beautiful Dubrovnik. I want to live here:
The island of Korcula:

A beautiful view of Split. A nice hike up the mountain after I had espresso:

Plitvice Lakes - I definitely want to return to this area:

In the next posting I will add some photos from Hungary. What we did is when we decided to leave Croatia we jumped a train in Zagreb and arrived in Budapest, Hungary. I cannot remember how long we were in that beautiful city. It reminded me a lot of Paris, just a lot cheaper. After Budapest, Jen headed home to San Francisco and I jumped on a train that took me through Vienna, Austria up to Zurich, Switzerland where I stayed some days w/ my favorite Liechtensteinian, Michael.
(On a side note, I recently had the pleasure of meeting some other Liechtensteinians during a trip to Las Vegas and they are really cool, too!)
